The Sketchbook Project
I think this is my first post in a while without an illustration, but it’s because I’m actually going to talk about something in a little bit of length, oooo, I know everybody is excited. There is this art exhibit of sorts called The Sketchbook Project. You pay twenty-five dollars and the fine folks at the Art House co-op send you a moleskin sketchbook. What you’re supposed to do is fill up the sketchbook with all your own sketches and send it back to them. They then catalog all the sketchbooks and attach barcodes to them. Once this is done all the sketchbooks go on tour across the country to libraries and galleries and people can come view them and check them out to peruse through. Each time somebody looks at your book you are notified of who looked at it and where. Once the tour is over the sketchbooks go to the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Art Library. The whole thing sounds cool to me and it’s international, so you’ll be participating with people around the world and anybody can participate as long as they pay the twenty-five dollars. I was thinking about partaking, but so far over 4,600 people have entered. My thing is what are the chances of somebody actually viewing your work? They say they try to make sure all the sketchbooks get some exposure, but what are the chances. I love my sketchbooks and keep them after they're all filled up. I even have my ones from high school, so knowing I put so much love into this sketchbook just to send it off for it to possibly be neglected might be too much for me, so The Sketchbook project is something I’ll have to ponder.

Illustration Friday: Satellite
After her stitches from the skateboarding accident Clarisse felt like a satellite dish.
The theme for Illustration friday this week is satellite. One of those cone thingies for animal stiches for some reason automatically popped into my head and I had to put everything else on hold for a bit because I just had to draw this. I'm so snazy today cuz I made two blog posts, yeah, I'm awesome.

The Halfway Mark

I hit the halfway mark. I made it to illustration fourteen, which is on the left, and fifteen is on the right. I might actually get my whole story done, hopefully I don't get distracted, which is why I've never fully illustrated one of my stories before, but I think I'll actually see this through to the end.

Cal and Ilene the Anti-Teens
I came across these old illustrations of mine when I was packing up stuff to move. I know I just said it was agoing to be all about my Doris story from here on out until I finished it, but I thought I'd give my posts some variety. These are like from five years ago and I found them in an envelope. I was working on a short story called Cal and Ilene Go to a Party, but it's kinda part of a series called Cal and Ilene the Anti-Teens, so I have a couple other illustrations that go with this story that I will post later. I figured I'd spread them out and maybe I'll make some new ones when I have the time. I kinda like thier disgruntled expressions.Oh, and what is an Anti-Teen, well it's a teenager that's really not fond of thier kind (other teenagers). My little sister and her friend were anti-teens. They were always complaining how other teenagers were so obnoxious.

It's All About Doris
So everybody knows, right now it's all about Doris. So far I have finished eleven of the illustrations for my story, number eleven being the picture above. I have seventeen left to go, so that's my main focus for now. Right now my family and I are staying in corporate housing so much of ny time is dedicated to finding a permanat home and in between that goes my illustrating. I'm determined to finish my illustrations in a timely manner, so then we can all see where my story goes from there. See, all of you get to come on my journey with me.

This will be it for a bit because I move out of state the morning after next and already have packed up my Wacom drawing tablet, which I miss already, and I do believe this is the last day I will have internet access, so see ya again in a few.| Reactions: |
